Post-Loss Building Damage Assessments
Property losses that result in structural damage necessitate the involvement of a qualified structural engineer to review the extent of damage, and to provide guidance on temporary shoring or bracing, as well as required remedial work.  Often, post-loss building damage assessments result in the discovery of pre-existing design and/or construction issues and deficiencies that were previously unknown, and which affect the execution of loss-related repairs.  With extensive knowledge and experience in building damage reviews and building code consulting, Di Scipio Associates Inc. is able to provide recommendations on necessary remedial work to address both pre-existing issues and loss related damage.

As outlined by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the most widely used green building rating system in the world.  Available for virtually all building project types, from new construction to interior fit-outs and operation & maintenance, the LEED rating system provides a framework that project teams can apply to create healthy, highly efficient, cost-saving green buildings.   Mr. Rick Di Scipio, Principal, of Di Scipio Associates Inc., is certified as a LEED Green Associate by the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), which administers project certifications and professional credentials and certificates within the framework of the USGBC's LEED rating system. Accordingly, Di Scipio Associates Inc. can assist with damage assessments involving LEED-certified buildings to ensure necessary remedial work is completed so as to maintain the previously acquired LEED certification for such buildings.

Litigation Support and Expert Testimony
Di Scipio Associates Inc., through an assembled team of experts, is able to offer forensic engineering services dealing with failures involving mechanical and electrical components, materials, structural and non-structural building components, and manufactured products.

Numerous cases and insurance losses, such as those involving fires, explosions, personal injury or building and material failures, require a review of applicable codes and standards to ascertain whether design, construction and/or manufacturing deficiencies are pertinent causation factors, and to establish whether there is merit for advancing a subrogation action for loss recovery.  In these situations, Di Scipio Associates Inc. can assist in providing the forensic engineering, code consulting and factual expert opinions and testimony that may be required.

Our firm provides objective opinions based on factual information, by applying all the necessary scientific methodologies required.  This provides our clients with an accurate picture of potential loss recovery through subrogation, or the extent of liability exposure, in relation to a particular claim.
